June 2009 - New Internal Risk Reporting Archive Resource

Starting last year, a number of members have presented their internal risk reports to the other members attending the general CCRO meetings. This resource is a rich, searchable & indexed, and annotated archive of the reports members have shared. Be an active CCRO member by joining this project as a new contributor to a sharing discussion at a future meeting.

A NEW INTERNAL RISK REPORTING ARCHIVE COMES TOGETHER

One of the real values of CCRO membership is the ability for members to gain first-hand insights into how other member companies are addressing common risk management challenges. One such challenge that members have always discussed informally at meetings has been the different types of internal risk reports that they generate and how successful they have been at delivering insights to their audience.

In 2008 the CCRO began formalizing this popular discussion topic by having various member companies make presentations of their internal risk reports at CCRO meetings. The plan now is for this ‘risk report sharing’ to continue at each CCRO meeting whenever it’s at all possible. With different companies presenting each time, there is a growing diversity of report formats, metrics, and styles that attendees have had a chance to discuss. In addition, the CCRO is in the process of developing an archive resource that contains all the risk reporting presentations to date.

This treasure-trove of risk reporting examples will be searchable and indexed. I hope it will be available through some new technology to be available on our new website. The response to these presentations has been overwhelmingly positive; discussions during the presentations have been productive, bringing many insights and stimulating new ideas for members. All of our presenters have communicated their appreciation for member feedback and their anticipation for accessing the new archive.

SHARING: INVOLVEMENT BRINGS VALUE – VOLUNTEER TO PRESENT

Be an active CCRO member and gain the most from membership by sharing your company’s internal risk reports (without any proprietary numbers) at an upcoming meeting. Past presenters have attested to the valuable feedback and new ideas provided during their presentation. You’ll also be helping grow our resource by adding to our archive of reports.

To incentivize everyone to share their reports, we expect to offer a higher-level of access for those that have contributed slides at past & future meetings.

We have a tentative volunteer to present at August’s meeting, but need another to join them. Let us know if you could participate in October or December’s meeting…Contact us by email.
